Your Questions, Answered

Below are the questions Belrose homeowners actually ask us, before booking and on the day of the job.

Can't find yours here? Call (02) 9054 3079 and we'll talk it through directly.

Common questions

How Fast We Get to You

How fast can you get here?

We aim for a fast response across Belrose, often same or next day for standard bookings. A genuine emergency jumps the queue for priority attention. Call (02) 9054 3079 and let us know what's going on so we can plan the right response.

What counts as an electrical emergency?

If something feels genuinely unsafe right now, it's an emergency. A switch that arcs, a plug that smells hot, bare wire showing, or the lights dying with no obvious reason all count. Where it's safe, flick the circuit off at the switchboard, then call us straight away.

What happens after I call?

A real person answers the phone, not a call centre. We ask what's going on, talk through timing, and book you in for a time that suits. For urgent jobs we work out the fastest safe response there and then, and let you know exactly what to expect.

How do I book?

Call (02) 9054 3079, or send a message through our contact page and one of the team will ring you back. Either way you'll get a time that works for you, and a fixed written price before we start, so the cost is settled well before the job begins.

Common questions

Pricing and Quotes

What does "$50 off your first service" cover?

New customers get $50 knocked off the cost of their first job with us. It comes off automatically when we write up the invoice, so there's no separate form or code to remember.

Is the quote really free?

Yes. Every quote is free, with no call-out fee, no matter what you decide afterwards. We confirm the price in writing before any work begins, so you're not left guessing.

How do I pay?

Before we start, you get the cost in writing, agreed and locked in. Once the job is finished and checked, we sort out payment, and we'll run through the options when we quote.

How do quotes work?

For straightforward jobs we can often quote over the phone; for anything bigger, we come and take a look first. Either way, we agree the price before work starts and put it in writing. We don't charge by the hour, and there's nothing extra once we're on site.

Common questions

The Belrose Questions

What suburbs do you service?

We cover Belrose, which sits in Northern Beaches Council, along with the neighbouring suburbs of Frenchs Forest, Davidson, Forestville, St Ives and Beacon Hill. Not seeing your street? Call us anyway, we cover this stretch of the Northern Beaches most weeks.

Can you handle new builds and renovations here?

Yes, from a full rewire on an older Belrose home to the electrical fit-out on a new build. Streets like Coora Avenue mix original brick veneer homes with newer builds, so we're used to both. Renovating near Belrose Super Centre or anywhere else in the suburb, we'll price the electrical work before you start.

Do you know Belrose's housing stock?

Belrose grew up mostly between the 1960s and the 1980s: big blocks, brick or brick-veneer walls, plenty of them running hard up against Garigal National Park bushland. A lot of those original switchboards and circuits are the same age as the house. We know what that means for a rewire or an upgrade, and what to check first.

Do you work on heritage/strata properties?

Belrose isn't heritage-listed the way some older Sydney suburbs are, it's mostly 1960s-80s family homes with townhouse and strata developments added more recently. We work on both freestanding houses and strata common property, including switchboards that serve more than one unit.

Common questions

Safety, Standards and Paperwork

Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?

No. Under NSW law, only a licensed electrician can carry out electrical work. DIY electrical work is illegal in NSW, and it's genuinely dangerous too. Even a small-looking job needs to be signed off with a Certificate of Compliance for electrical work.

What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?

An RCD, also called a safety switch, trips the circuit the instant it senses a fault, fast enough to prevent a serious shock. Modern NSW homes need a safety switch on every circuit. If your home still has an older board without one, it's one of the simplest upgrades we do.

What is a Certificate of Compliance and do I get one?

A Certificate of Compliance for electrical work is the official paperwork confirming the job meets AS/NZS 3000 and was done properly. We lodge notifiable electrical work with NSW Fair Trading and give you a copy for your records. Keep it, it matters if you ever sell the home.

What is AS/NZS 3000?

AS/NZS 3000 is the Australian and New Zealand standard for how electrical work is carried out. Every job we do meets it, from a single downlight to a full switchboard rewire. It's the benchmark we're assessed against, not an optional extra.
